Joseph is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Expressive Therapist at Flourish Counseling and Wellness Center. He specializes in music therapy, mental health counseling, dreamwork, and ADHD coaching with adults, adolescents, and children.
In his individual and group work, Joseph naturally gravitates towards a humanistic framework. He believes that therapy is all about the “process and not the product,” and asking the right questions in a continuous, mindful, sensory, and holistic self-exploration, looking at all aspects of wellness. Joseph is passionate and dynamic in his approach, gently encouraging healthy and balanced self-awareness as the catalyst for change. He brings an open-mind along with kindness, empathy, and compassion.
Joseph was previously the Director of Expressive Therapy at The Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW), and currently consults as Lead Group Therapist and clinical supervisor. Joseph has worked with those diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance use disorder for the last decade. Previously he served on the board of the Massachusetts Music Therapy Alliance (MMTA) for four years.
Joseph received a dual masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Music Therapy at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He loves utilizing creativity and all kinds of artistic expression, including music, art, dance/movement, drama, and poetry/bibliotherapy. Joseph also has advanced training from a dual certificate program in Cognitive Therapy from University of Pennsylvania under Aaron Beck. He has extensive experience with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Joseph is deeply enthusiastic about dreamwork, and enjoys bringing the unconscious process and active imagination into healing and wellness.
