Alex received her bachelor’s in social work from East Carolina University and her master’s from Fordham University with a clinical specialization in mental health. She has four years of mental health experience working in various settings, including inpatient mental health clinics, psychiatric hospitals, and intensive outpatient treatment centers. Alex’s calm and reassuring nature allows her to quickly establish a positive, comfortable rapport with her clients.
Alex believes in the mind/body connection and therefore incorporates these techniques with her clients. She understands that no one treatment works for everyone, thus allowing the client to find what works best for them by introducing various techniques and modalities to ensure that her clients feel comfortable with their treatment. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and a Strength-based perspective. Alex has specialized training in Trauma-Focused CBT for Children and Adolescents. In addition, Alex understands the importance and role a family makes in how we develop, and therefore she encourages family involvement when appropriate.
